WELLAND CANAL
The ships of the world traverse the famed Welland Canal, which links Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. A series of specially designed Locks allow Lake Freighters to climb the height of Niagara over a 24 mile route. A number of viewing areas have been constructed along the length of the canal, which begins at Port Weller on Lake Ontario and ends at Port Colborne on Lake Erie. NIAGARA PARKS BUTTERFLY CONSERVATORY
Located within the world-renowned Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens, the conservatory is home to approximately 2000 butterflies in an exotic green setting. Up to 50 species of butterflies move through a climate-controlled conservatory. For more information call (905) 356-8119.
NIAGARA RIVER REC TRAIL
Take a walk, roller blade, or cycle along the 56km (35-mile) Niagara River Trail. The trail can be accessed at any point throughout the Niagara Parkway from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie. Beautiful views of the Niagara River and the Niagara Gorge can be seen along this picturesque trail.
FLORAL CLOCK
Niagara is home to one of the world's largest floral clocks. The face is 40 feet in diameter and is planted annually with about 20,000 plants.
NIAGARA ON THE LAKE
This historical town was once the capital of Upper Canada. The town has retained some of the flavour of Early Canada and is also the site of the famed Shaw Festival Theater and historic Fort George. Located approximately 20 km from Niagara Falls.
SHAW FESTIVAL
The Shaw Festival is located in picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake and offers the second largest acting company in North America. MUSEUMS
Lundy's Lane Historical Museum is located at 5810 Ferry Street (Lundy's Lane). The building is located on the site of the 1814 battle of Lundy's Lane.
Willoughby Township Historical Museum is located on the Niagara Parkway. It is a restored, quaint, rural schoolhouse.
Fort Erie Historical Museum is open from June until the beginning of September
